Agreement

Students and Parents must acknowledge and understand the following:

  1. CHARTER SCHOOL CURRICULUM
    Students must pass all required courses, earn a minimum of 230 credits, and pass mandated tests in mathematics, reading, language, and writing. Honors courses generally begin in Grade 10. All 9th graders will be placed in Small Learning Communities. Students must earn a minimum of 55 credits by the end of the 9th grade, 110 credits by the end of the 10th grade, 170 credits by the end of the 11th grade, and 230 credits to graduate. All students must also pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) to graduate.

  2. STUDENT BEHAVIOR CODE
    Students will be expelled from Palisades Charter High for use or possession of weapons, drugs, or alcohol, or for starting fights. Students transferred for use or possession of drugs or alcohol must join the IMPACT program at their next school and will be placed on a Probation Contract upon return to Palisades Charter High.

  3. PARENT INVOLVEMENT COMMITMENT
    PCHS doesn't succeed without parent participation. We have an expectation and desire for all families to commit a minimum of 40 hours a year per family. This can be accomplished by volunteering time at the school, attending Back to School Night and monthly Board of Directors meetings, joining Standing Committees, reading correspondence sent home from school, ie. The Parent Newsletters, e-mail, or participating in other school activities.

  4. COMMUNITYSERVICE REQUIREMENT
    Students must perform ten (10) hours of Community Service per year for each year in attendance at Pali or they will not participate in the Prom or graduation.

  5. COMPUTER LITERACY REQUIREMENT
    All students must demonstrate computer literacy skills. Students must enroll in a one-semester computer class.

  6. POST-SECONDARY PLAN
    Students will consult with a counselor to ensure that they are enrolled in the correct courses for college or to fulfill other plans after high school graduation.

CHARTER APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, March 1, 2010 AT 12:00 PM
Applications are used to determine expected numbers of students next year. Residents are guaranteed enrollment until school reaches maximum capacity. If needed, a public lottery will be held on March 25, 2010.

TRANSPORTATION TO PCHS
Transportation is available for students traveling from PCHS's traditional attendance areas in many neighborhoods in Central Los Angeles and the Valley (please see our website, www.palihigh.org, for a detailed listing of these areas). Applicants requesting transportation must apply through the LAUSD Choices Brochure under the PWT, OTS, Magnet, PSC, or CAP Programs. Residents from the Topanga area will also receive transportation.
