Optimists Pitch In $10K for Pali Pool
Incoming Optimists Club President Geoff Shelden and outgoing President Lester Wood visited Pali to present a donation of $10,000 towards the construction of the Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center.

Lions Club Donates $6500 to Study Center
On behalf of the students and staff of Palisades Charter High School we are extremely grateful to the Pacific Palisades Lions Club for their ongoing and generous support of our Study Center and Tutorial Program. Most recently the Lions awarded the Study Center $6,500 towards the purchase of new computers.
On June 19, 2001, our school dedicated the Study Center as the Lion Merry Richards Center. The Lions Club generously donated $25,000.00 as part of an endowment fund in the name of the late Lion Merry Richards, Humanitarian, Educator and Patron of the Canines.
Ms. Richards taught at Palisades High School and served her community throughout the years in Pacific Palisades. With the $25,000.00 donation, new computers, scanners, printer, tables, chairs and wall construction for room division were purchased. The club's caring contribution enabled thousands of students to enjoy a more productive, user-friendly, safe, and quieter Study Center in succeeding years.
In addition, since 2003, the Pacific Palisades Lions Club has sponsored yearly Lion Merry Richards Tutor Scholarships, totaling $15,000.00, in which 13 outstanding senior tutors were honored with $1000.00 scholarships at Senior Award Night in June. These scholarships enable students to purchase books, school supplies and support tuition fees.

Making Waves Wins the Gold
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association, a program of the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, recently awarded Making Waves Literary Magazine a Gold Medalist recognition for all-around excellence of content and design. The program, established in 1925, gives gold, silver, or bronze awards depending on overall scores for various criteria. Making Waves received 938 points out of a maximum of 1000, scoring particularly high in organization and visual content. Editors in Chief of this Gold Medalist publication, Arya Davachi, Henry Conklin, and Laylee Salek now attend New York University.
